Heaven in Hard Times

I knew Kevin would remind me why he's my favorite once I started drifting Joe-wards.

I was kind of disappointed that his interview thing in the Rolling Stone was with Brad Paisley, because I really, really don't like Brad Paisley - I think his music's okay for the most part, with a few standouts, and the less said of what I think of him-the-person the better. BUT he listed one of his favorite songs as Nickel Creek's "When You Come Back Down" and I AM THE MOST PATHETIC PERSON EVER I got all dopey-mushy about it.

Because, okay, I basically think Nickel Creek is the best band in the entire world, ever. I cried when I found out they weren't together anymore, actually sobbed. Their music is beautiful, incredible, and I wish everyone in the whole world would listen to them and love them as much as I do. I don't listen to them as much as they deserve because I can't just put them on in the background, I have to immerse myself, put them on and do nothing else for a while.

And "When You Come Back Down" is the song that made me fall in love with them, and it's beautiful, and I love it like burning, and I maybe possibly cried or wanted to, a little bit, to see it and them get a little love from KJo. IDK I am pitiful. It's the best song ever, I always forget how much I love it and I always cry when I listen to it PITIFUL.

Anyway. Everyone should hear it. So listen to it and then go buy some Nickel Creek albums and try to be HALF AS AWESOME AS KEVIN.

I've got a ton of things I keep forgetting to post, because...stuff. So random catch-all poststravaganza time YAY.

There are a wide range of bandoms represented, and any rock band/solo act is welcome, so nominate away! 2. Possible pimpage: In torch_wood, a poster is trying to gauge interest in a Torchwood fic exchange, so any Torchwood fans on my flist who'd be interested, go drop a line here. I'd love to see something like this take off, so...yes.

3. purplejamish! I promised you Journey, and I've been slacking, but here there be Journey's Greatest Hits, plus a pretty spiff remix of Don't Stop Believin' if you're into that.

That's an almost-complete (the "generate HTML table" applescript I use skips over some things, I'm slowly filling in the gaps) listing of my Christmas music collection. I'll be uploading things...basically as I feel like it (or as people ask; I've posted this in the savvy_elf music meme and you're all welcome to make requests, too) and adding in links.

Right now not much is linked, and most of what is is stuff that's been posted here already. BUT. Depending how long my ambition holds out, this might be awesome. Or you might all be left desperately wanting. WHO KNOWS.

Aces High - The cartoon version of this video is the best thing EVER. EVER. Iron Maiden vs. Nazis. THIS NEEDS TO BE MADE INTO A MOVIE. (Also: Cartoon Nicko is effing adorable). I generally end up singing this in the shower. Poor roommate. Stranger in a Strange Land - Bruce's outfit in this video is both a crime against fashion and OMGHOT. Why is it I only ever talk about songs in terms of their videos? Hmm. I just mmmmm love this song. Particularly the "no brave new world...no bra-ave new woooorld" parts. Mmmm. And this is one of few songs I'd be perfectly happy listening to without any vocals. So good.
