New favorite "I am an adult" moment: [livejournal.com profile] truemajority and I bought crayons yesterday, which I put in my new Jonas Brothers purse because, y'know, why use a bag for just crayons (well, also lip gloss and a scarf, but).

So then of course when we went out to eat and I went to get my wallet, the crayons were the first thing visible. In my Disney purse. Because. I am an adult.

Christmas music season is in full swing! My favorite time of yeeeeear oh god. I have all sorts of plans to bombard you with Christmas music at some point, but until I am unlazy enough to actually do that, feel free to pick through the stuff I uploaded for [livejournal.com profile] blackwayfarers here (what's in there).

I was originally going to post about a number of angsty/depressing/melancholy things but I am apparently being positive, so that's all you get, crayons and Christmas music.
kevin jonas looking orgasmic/deranged
I knew Kevin would remind me why he's my favorite once I started drifting Joe-wards.

I was kind of disappointed that his interview thing in the Rolling Stone was with Brad Paisley, because I really, really don't like Brad Paisley - I think his music's okay for the most part, with a few standouts, and the less said of what I think of him-the-person the better. BUT he listed one of his favorite songs as Nickel Creek's "When You Come Back Down" and I AM THE MOST PATHETIC PERSON EVER I got all dopey-mushy about it.

Because, okay, I basically think Nickel Creek is the best band in the entire world, ever. I cried when I found out they weren't together anymore, actually sobbed. Their music is beautiful, incredible, and I wish everyone in the whole world would listen to them and love them as much as I do. I don't listen to them as much as they deserve because I can't just put them on in the background, I have to immerse myself, put them on and do nothing else for a while.

And "When You Come Back Down" is the song that made me fall in love with them, and it's beautiful, and I love it like burning, and I maybe possibly cried or wanted to, a little bit, to see it and them get a little love from KJo. IDK I am pitiful. It's the best song ever, I always forget how much I love it and I always cry when I listen to it PITIFUL.

Anyway. Everyone should hear it. So listen to it and then go buy some Nickel Creek albums and try to be HALF AS AWESOME AS KEVIN.

I've got a ton of things I keep forgetting to post, because...stuff. So random catch-all poststravaganza time YAY.

1. Pimpage: [livejournal.com profile] xmas_rocks nominations are open! XMas Rocks, for people who aren't aware, is a multi-bandom slashfic secret santa exchange organized by the ever-awesome [livejournal.com profile] sidewinder, and it rules. There are a wide range of bandoms represented, and any rock band/solo act is welcome, so nominate away! Nominating doesn't bind you to participate, but it does ensure that, come signup time, if you want to participate the bands and pairings you wanna read and write are available. If you wanna read stories from past years, get a feel for things, everything's archived right here.

2. Possible pimpage: In [livejournal.com profile] torch_wood, a poster is trying to gauge interest in a Torchwood fic exchange, so any Torchwood fans on my flist who'd be interested, go drop a line here. I'd love to see something like this take off, so...yes.

3. [livejournal.com profile] purplejamish! I promised you Journey, and I've been slacking, but here there be Journey's Greatest Hits, plus a pretty spiff remix of Don't Stop Believin' if you're into that.

ETA: 4. I forgot one other thing! Okay everyone guess why I am more awesome than you.

Give up?

Because some of my Sims are Catholic schoolgirls on choppers. FUCK YES.

I've thought about doing something like this for a while, today I got the ambition.

Christmas Music Directory

That's an almost-complete (the "generate HTML table" applescript I use skips over some things, I'm slowly filling in the gaps) listing of my Christmas music collection. I'll be uploading things...basically as I feel like it (or as people ask; I've posted this in the [livejournal.com profile] savvy_elf music meme and you're all welcome to make requests, too) and adding in links.

Right now not much is linked, and most of what is is stuff that's been posted here already. BUT. Depending how long my ambition holds out, this might be awesome. Or you might all be left desperately wanting. WHO KNOWS.

My aunt's cancer is back :/ Two tumors, she starts chemo tomorrow.

Motherfucking fuck shit fuck Hell dammit. Shit.

*sigh*

If you're not sick of this shit yet, [livejournal.com profile] gaelbrady wanted my top ten Flogging Molly songs. Written right before sister gave me the news, so far more cheerfully written than if I'd started ten minutes later.

So here they are )
nicole anderson, b&w, big hair
screwthedaisies gave me Deathstars. Whee.

Blitzkrieg - Ooo, piano. This is sure to be lovely and gentle and - whoa hold on, here it comes. *ROCKS THE FUCK OUT* Ahahaha. Yeah. Blitzkrieg BOOM. And yay piano.
Download

Cyanide - My poor roommate. I sing along to EVERYTHING, and I usually have headphones on so (a) it's probably louder than I think and (b) all she has to go on to figure out what I'm listening to is what I sing. Now drink the cyanide! Poor roommate.
Download

Damn Me - I like the siren thingy in the background. Wee oo eeee. This is just SOFUCKINGAWESOME. *rocks out*
Download

Genocide - I love me some synths. Mmm mm good. Have I rocked the fuck out yet? Because *rocks the fuck out*
Download

Little Angel - I like high-pitched synthy musical backdrops, and female backing vocals in male-sung songs. Also, there's "la la la la"s. You can't go wrong with weird angry husky la la la la.
Download

Modern Death - Totally random, but the drumming in this reminds me of Tico's in some Jovi song and I can't think of which one. If I ever fuck meet Bone, I won't tell him he reminds me of Bon Jovi's drummer :)
Download

Motherzone - Musical sparkles! Lyrics about "shiny shine" (yes I know it's actually "shine and shine" but it sounds like "shiny shine" so nyah)! Aww, happy fluffy little girl Deathstars. I mean...*rocks the fuck out*
Download

Play God - This is the song that made me keep wanting to ask H what it was she'd had us listening to in the car. It's so MMMMM I love it. So much. This gets stuck in my head like nobody's business. If the shower had ears it'd probably be confused as to why I switched from "Ain't just your kiss, K-I-S-S that I miss" to "I'm the strangler in the night will trash the skyline"
Download

Semi-Automatic - Whee epic synthy. MANKIND. EXTERMINATE. Ahahaha. Oh Deathstars, you so crazy. I am physically incapable of listening to this withoud DANCING LIKE A MORON.
Download

White Wedding - I'm not sure I've ever heard a cover of White Wedding I don't like but OMG SO AWESOME. All growly and deep and synthy and Deathstarsy. Mmmmm. Mmm yes. *kindaps Cat and Bone*

In my Top Ten Lepp Songs post, [livejournal.com profile] lesh mentioned noticing I hadn't included Bed of Roses as one of my favorite Jovi songs. And I said that's because they have WAY better ballads. And [livejournal.com profile] lesh said "If you're ever in the mood to make this intense Bon Jovi ballad CD, send it my way."

... Y'all should know by now not to encourage me.

I was wondering if anyone was gonna give me Leppard. [livejournal.com profile] evaine did.

(This one was hard. Lepp are second only to Jovi for me - if it's any indication, when I went through and initially pulled out favorite-favorites, I had 32 Jovi songs and 30 Lepp songs to pick from. Edguy? 11. Maiden? 10. Yeah.)

Can't Keep Away From the Flame - I think if you look at all the top tens I've posted so far, that for the most part my favorites tend to be big pomp-and-circumstance overblown rock, and acoustic stuff. This is acoustic and mmmm. Like JBJ, I far prefer when Joe sings in a lower register (of course, squealy-screamy totally has its place) and this is just mmm. Nummy.
Download

Demolition Man - And here we have the overblown pomp-and-circumstance big-hooky-chorus rock. This is cheesy but OMG I love it. And it gets stuck in my head liek whoa. And mmm. I love Lepp backing vocals.
Download

Four-Letter Word - I know, I shouldn't like this. But guys, it's not just your kiss, K-I-S-S, that I miss, not just the way that you squeeze me tight. If there's a wish at the top of my list, it's just to hold you every day and every night. I played this for Logan in the car once and all she could say was "wow". So much cheese. My favorite Lepp song to sing.
Download

From the Inside - Cheesy song about spelling to mmmmmmmmmmnice exploration of drug abuse. Ahaha so good. This is so MMMM and so...fuck yeah. I love this fucking song and it's mmmm.
Download

Heaven Is - Another one I probably shouldn't like, but keep in mind this is the person who unabashedly loves Candy In Your Hands. This is SO BAD but SO GOOD and I LOVE ADRENALIZE.
Download

Hysteria - It's really kind of rare for me to like singles more than deep cuts (exception being Maiden, and that's only because almost all I KNOW of Maiden are the singles)but godFUCKINGdammit I love this song. I rarely seek it out to listen to, hardly ever get in "omg I need Hysteria" moods, but it never fails to make me happy when it pops up in shuffle.
Download

Slang - This has the CRAZIEST FUCKING VIDEO (didn't think I'd get through a full one of these without video babble, did you? silly) with all the tv-heads and spinny room and wind tunnel hair and wtf. Ahahaha I love it. And this shit is so fun. And unlike U2, Lepp can handle counting properly in Spanish. One two three four indeed, guys. Indeed.
Download

Stand Up (Kick Love Into Motion) - Little by little, like a fine wine; my love is like a motor, running all the time. Step by step, easy and slow, on a stairway to Heaven - what a way to GO
Download

Waterloo Sunset - I love Joe's voice. Motheryfuck. I hadn't ever heard the original; after seeking it out, eh. Jooooe. Mmmmm. Hearing this makes me wanna just put it on repeat forever and crawl into bed and get all wrapped up in the blankets and mmmm. Joe.
Download

When Love and Hate Collide - Sooooo many ballads. Haha. Mmmmm pianoy.

Top Ten meme again. See last entry. [livejournal.com profile] stonefinder gave me Iron Maiden (if only I meant that literally...)

2 Minutes to Midnight - Random: every now and then I get this and "Bring Your Daughter..." stuck in my head at the same time. Two! Minutes! To mi-idnight! Let her go! Let her go! Let her go!...Yeah. I rock, I know.
Download

Aces High - The cartoon version of this video is the best thing EVER. EVER. Iron Maiden vs. Nazis. THIS NEEDS TO BE MADE INTO A MOVIE. (Also: Cartoon Nicko is effing adorable). I generally end up singing this in the shower. Poor roommate. I should also add that if I didn't already want to have sex with every one of the Iron Maidens because hot metal chicks, their version of this'd do it.
Download

Bring Your Daughter to the Slaughter - Ahahaha so cheesy. But so awesome. And that husky-growly thing Bruce does with his voice is *dies*
Download

The Clairvoyant - I have no blessed idea why I like this one so much. But I do omg. Have I mentioned that I love Bruce? Because Bruce <3
Download

Fear of the Dark - The Rock in Rio video of this is totally porn. Short haired Bruce all running around and leaping and tight jeans and porn. It's porn. Bruceporn. And the part where it's slow is all OMG kinda creepy awesome and then it gets fast and it's all OMG *rockout* and yeah, bitches.
Download

Stranger in a Strange Land - Bruce's outfit in this video is both a crime against fashion and OMGHOT. Why is it I only ever talk about songs in terms of their videos? Hmm. I just mmmmm love this song. Particularly the "no brave new world...no bra-ave new woooorld" parts. Mmmm. And this is one of few songs I'd be perfectly happy listening to without any vocals. So good.
(No download, I don't have an mp3 of this atm [I fire up Visions of the Beast when I need a fix...which, hey, is probably why I keep talking about stuff in terms of the video])

The Trooper - One of my ringtones! My alarm, actually. WHOA-OH-OH-OH-OH-OH-OH-OH-OH. Yeah bitches. We don't need no stinkin' words, we have SYLLABLES. Mmmmm, syllables.
Download

Wasted Years - FAVORITE. FAVORITE EVER. I LOVE this fucking song. So hard. It's just *gibberish* and *noise* and OMGSOGOOD. Love. Lovelovelove. *marries it* *has its babies* *marries them, too, because THIS IS AWESOME ENOUGH TO DRIVE ME TO INCESTUOUS POLYGAMY*
Download

Where Eagles Dare - I've loved this song since before I knew it was Maiden. When I was crazy into wrestling and obsessed with Chris Jericho I picked up a couple Fozzy cds, and at the time I didn't know they were all cover songs. And this was my favorite of the bunch. Anyway, so I finally start getting into metal beyond Fozzy, download Piece of Mind 'cause NICKO, and - oh hey, I know this song! And it turns out it TOTALLY SUCKED BEFORE, because OMG.
Download

The Wicker Man - More short-haired-Bruce-in-jeans porn. Mmmmmm. YOUR TIME WILL COME. YOUR TIME WILL CO-O-O-OME. Totally. Bitches better recognize.
