I'M EMPLOYED. FINALLY.

(temporarily. at least. but it's SOMETHING.)

I'm struggling to come up with a happy because I am CRANKY AS ALL FUCK right now, but eh

- Did Christmas 2 at my aunt's house in Milton, and NO ONE ON EARTH picks out pajamas like my aunt. Two or three years ago she got me my two favorite pajama bottoms EVER, and I've been tearing my crappy cheapo pajamas left and right lately so OMG pajamas <3. AND I got a $25 Wal-Mart card, plus I bought my sister's off her (she's morally opposed to Wal-Mart, so, y'know, more for me) so I'll be going out there at some point

- I LOVE WII FIT. If nothing else, it's served as a good reminder that oh yeah, lazy as I am I *do* like exercising and the way it makes me feel. I really need to clear out a place for the Gazelle I claimed from Aunt Kathy.

- spent the whole day out spending Christmas money. Got sorely needed shoes and gloves (and Mom offered to pay for the gloves, so yay), an Origami page-a-day calendar, and all the stuff to make myself a Ravenclaw scarf. I've got $36 bucks left, which will either go to Animal Crossing for DS (if I can FIND it, Jesus) or new headphones and...something.

- Playing Wii at [livejournal.com profile] truemajority's house. OMG I WANT ONE NOW.

I knew I wouldn't remember to do this every day.

Yesterday's Christmas Eve service at church was lovely. Hard, but I'm glad we went rather than hiding at home. The part we knew was going to be hardest - Angels We Have Heard on High, which was the last hymn at my aunt's funeral - wasn't so bad at all, for a couple reasons: rather than a hymn for the congregation, it was performed by the little kids' choir, and it is hard to be sad with a bunch of 5- and 6-year-olds totally not knowing the verses but belting the fuck out of the GLO-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-RIA part; secondly, it was followed by Joy to the World, which has been a massive family in-joke since my dad spaced out and belted out a JOY when...no one was supposed to be joy-ing. And I do mean belted. It was nice.

And Christmas has been wonderful. We did a no-present Christmas, out of necessity, and it was nice. Dinner was fabulous, and my Dad got everyone 10 lottery tickets...and every single one of us won something. My mom, who thought she'd gotten the least, misread the directions and almost threw away $30 worth of tickets. We actually came out ahead - $64 from $50 worth of tickets. And we made quite a lovely holiday tableau, frantically scratching off tickets around the table.

Also, between yesterday and today, I got my Yuletide story and OMGSOAWESOME. I was...worried I'd be disappointed if someone wrote my last choice...but someone did and disappointment is the last thing on my mind. If you're into Mad Men (which you all SHOULD BE) go check out Split Run, a wonderful FABULOUS Sal/Ken fic.

My Dad happened to be up tonight when I got home, so when I got stuck in the driveway I didn't have to just abandon my car with its ass in the street.

(My poor car is just a baby HE CANNOT HANDLE SNOW.)

I FINISHED MY XMAS_ROCKS STORY *flops over*

And I LIKE it.

- Actually got some work done on my xmas_rocks story. I work better (or at least faster) the closer to deadline I am, so I have no doubts I'll have this wrapped up and ready to go tomorrow.

- Made it back around to one of my favorite Sim families in the prosperity challenge rotation

- Enjoyed some excellent discussion on "female gaze", and will probably end up writing a long blathering meta post in the near future. I love being blathery.

Happity

I got tagged for that happy things meme (post one happy thing every day for...what is it, 8 days?) that's going around, so...happy.

I managed to finish my Yuletide story! Not even totally at the last minute. And uploading was quick and painless despite all the warnings and paranoia.

(Now I need to...start my xmas_rocks fic EEP)
