You guuuuuys I have the coolest room EVER now. Also I shouldn't be allowed in Wal-Mart (or, alternately, trusted with my own money?), they have TOO MUCH DISNEY SHIT. But I have a CAMP ROCK BLANKET so I can sleep with the Jonai EVERY NIGHT LOL (last night it was WAY TOO HOT FOR A BLANKET, did that stop me? OF COURSE NOT) and a Troy Bolton pillow so I can put it on top of the blanketKevin when I'm not sleeping and there can be KEVRON ON MY BED, and a Camp Rock window valance so Jemi can PROTECTIVELY HOVER OVER MY HEAD oh god what is my life.

I went in for BLINDS. ONLY BLINDS.

Also have a gratituous kitty picture that was apparently on my camera.

Also also, go see Bandslam it is legitimately good. I am completely in love with it and wanna go see it A BAJILLION TIMES. I know my taste is suspect but it is NOT REALLY DISNEY-Y at all even a little, I promise! Go see it.

Tommie's mellowed out a little with the babies - she doesn't exactly love when we play with them, but she lets us. And then tries to find another good hiding place so we can't steal them again.

Her newest hiding place is...right next to my bed. Totally out in the open. My cat has no brains - but that's a good thing! 'Cause it means I've gotten exclusive kitten time for two days whenever I want it.

Tommie doesn't want anyone around the PWECIOUS WIDDLE BAYBIEZ at the moment, so pictures will be scarce...but I did manage to get a couple blurry cell phone pics woohoo.

Tommie had kittens! I've been so AWOL lately I didn't even mention she was pregnant again, but OMG wee widdle babies <3

She had three, a black one (Barack), a black-and-white bad-paint-job one (Maverick), and a grey one (as yet unnamed. We've been kicking around the other two names for weeks). We assume Grant is the daddy, especially since now they're born the color scheme works out.

OMG THEY'RE SO WIDDLE AND PWECIOUS AND KITTIES.

Our house has turned into an animal hospital, it feels like.

Rosie has a chronic ear infection issue. I don't remember how long it's been going on; it's been a while. Started with a hematoma, that burst (glad I wasn't home for THAT), she had surgery (she has one floppy ear and one pointy ear IT IS THE CUTEST THING EVER YOU GUYS) and since then it's just been constant ear troubles. For a long time we were just keeping it in check with constant ear cleaning; three weeks or so ago her bad ear (the floppy one) swelled shut and I couldn't even get to the bad part to clean it anymore (I'm the only one she lets clean her ears; she throws a fit for anyone else). So off to the vet...and she's been taking a steady round of pills for two weeks now, plus the regular ear cleaning. She goes back to the vet on Friday, maybe she'll be done. With the pills...she won't be done with the regular cleanings till we can afford ear canal surgery. And she hates the cleaning. Yippee.

I don't think I mentioned it, but Tommie was pregnant. Our best guess was she would've had kittens second week of September ish. Obviously by my use of the past tense that's not gonna happen...she miscarried. So she went off to the vet a week after Rosie did, after Mom and Andrea and I all noticed her acting funny. We all guessed the pregnancy failed...and we were right. Mom and I trundled her off to the vet - and she behaved so well! You guys, my kitty is awesome - where we were told she wasn't pregnant, that might mean she had feline leukemia, and even if she didn't she definitely had an infection. So antibiotics for the poor baby and off we went to stress until the vet closed and we didn't get a call about leukemia.

So every morning when I get up, Rosie gets Cephalexin, Prednisone (actually, this week the Prednisone is just every other day), and Benadryl, each wrapped up in a slice of turkey (or ham), and then Tommie gets a dropper full of pink amoxicillin (and behaves SO WELL OMG. I can give it to her without anyone extra to hold her down! She's so awesome. I love my baby). And every night Rosie gets Cephalexin and Benadryl in her food - although for the past couple nights she hasn't been eating all her food, so tonight I wanna leave the pills out and see if it's them or her appetite that's the problem - and Tommie gets another dropper full.

And everyone seems to be feeling better. Rosie especially - the change in her is incredible. She's suddenly happy all the time, yaaay.

I'm home! Exhausted, and inexplicably anxious (although that's died down quite a bit in the last ten minutes are so).

The trip was largely uneventful, which = yay but also = boring. My dad flew to Charlotte, rented a U-Haul and drove to Asheville, where we packed up all my crap for about an hour Tuesday night (hour and a half including loading the car onto the tow-y thing) and an hour or so Wednesday morning and we were off. (The whole trip is chronicled in hourly updates on my Twitter page [my mom wanted hourly texts, so I texted Twitter with the same thing I sent her]).

Worst part of the trip was cut for TMI )

Best part was last night. We stayed with a college friend of my dad's (my dad dropped out, friend's a laywer now) outside Washington D.C. (outside = it was less than 20 minutes from his apartment to the FDR memorial), Jake. So we showed up and I let the cats stretch their legs a little (they promptly hid behind the stereo cabinet), Jake and my dad got stoned and Jake and I drank. I was kind of having anxiety issues at the beginning, but that went away fast enough. Dad and Jake got stoned listening to Pat Benatar. This is very high on the list of things every child should get to see their father do. Anyway after they got stoned and I had a few drinks we went sightseeing - Dad had moved out of Washington before they built the FDR memorial, so we went there, and the WWII memorial hadn't been built when I was in D.C., so we went there, and neither of us even knew the Einstein memorial existed, so a quick stop there.

Mistake: I had two cups of coffee this morning. I've been so good about avoiding caffeine! And now here I am at 1 am drinking iced coffee on the slippery slope to constant caffeine addiction. YAY.

Anyway. The drive today was interminable. Kitties behaved beautifully both days, though, which made me happy. And they seem happy here; they've been exploring and trying to work up the courage to approach the dog. So. Happy kitties = yay. And I'm still not entirely sure this was the best decision, but we'll see.

I keep meaning to write up a post about the difference between misogynist characters and misogynist text. I'm entirely too lazy, yay. Also something sprouting from that last [livejournal.com profile] fanficrants post I linked, about where I believe author's rights extend and don't extend. Clearly too lazy for that, too. We shall see.

My dad's gonna rent a U-Haul and we're gonna tow my car home. I'm not entirely sure this is the best of all the options he came up with, but eh. And if he expects me to drive he is insane. Big honking truck with a car behind it nooooo thank you. He did most of the driving when we came down here, so he should be fine.

I've been stressing all day about the kitties but I think they'll be fine. My dad's gonna bring down two cat carriers, I've got plenty of food left so I can pack up a tupperware container for them, and I can do a shoebox or something full of litter. PetSmart sells a bunch of different kitty anxiety pills, so I'll probably drug them up for the drive, and afaik right now we're planning on stopping somewhere overnight so they can get some time out of the carriers to eat and poo. I'm still nervous; this is a long drive, and they've never even been in the car before, and I'm worried how they'll settle with the pets at home and I am terrified I'll have to give them up...but I'll do what I can. But. *frets*

Had a wicked migraine last night. Didn't wanna take Excedrin on such an empty stomach - caffeine, and all - so I took a bunch of Ibuprofen and crawled into bed around 11. Woke up wide-awake around 2, settled in to watch some tv, and around 2:30 my roommate knocked on my door to say she hadn't realized I'd been planning on going to bed so early, she'd been planning to go to the grocery store late, avoid the heat. I actually hadn't known our Ingles was open 24 hours, lol. I needed a check cashed and neither of us thought I'd be able to do it that late but we headed out anyway; we were right, no check cashy...and the manager told us even if we'd shown up during the day they wouldn't have cashed my particular check. Right, yay. I had a little cash so I grabbed some frozen goodies.

We had a pretty decent talk, she's less sullen and guilt-trippy than initially. So, y'know, yay. This morning (I say morning, it was after 2, w/e) we went to her bank to cash my check and back to the grocery store. I has food now; and since I was spending my birthday money I bought expensive tea instead of the cheapo store-brand bulk-boxed green tea I've been buying. The current pitcher is Bigelow Plantation Mint, which has always been one of my favorites. And I splurged on some Thai Kitchen Chili Garlic sauce because OM NOM NOM.

Rock Band PS2 is only $100 at Amazon right now. I...don't have $100. But for RB, that is cheap. Enh enh enh.

I've reached new levels of dork.

I have "Turbo Lover" stuck in my head and Gina wanted to cuddle, so she's been treated to several rounds of..."you're my kitty kitt-ay".

Gina the bitchy one is sleeping on my bed instead of under it omgyay

I just bought a laptop. Cheapo Toshiba Satellite. Hooray debt.

I hate being down about reviews, because it's SO much more fun to be the person listening to everyone ELSE complain, secure with a passel of regular reviewers and dispensing "as long as you're happy with your work, does it matter?"

Yes. Yes it does. Because I'm incredibly happy with my work lately, the rate I'm churning it out and the quality and even the silly little idiot fics that only exist because they make a few people chuckle. I'm thrilled with my writing lately.

But. I've had 3 regular reviewers since...God, probably since my first fic. 3 people who always popped off a review within 24 hours.

2 of them have stopped. Both, as far as I know, for personal reasons.

Which REALLY gets to me. It seems petty and silly to me, but then what do I know.

But...blah. Suppose the downer is partially my fault, posting so much and on a holiday weekend and expecting too much. Whatever.

I made strawberry sauce earlier :) Not quite sweet enough, but good. I'm so awesome.

Made it to go with yellow cake, when I moved Mom suggested I pick up a couple cake and brownie mixes, I made brownies last weekend and I wanted to use the cake mix before I finished the eggs (have I mentioned I make the world's best scrambled eggs?).

I had less strawberries left than I thought, though, so I'm gonna run out before I run out of cake.

Ah well. Yellow cake's good with pretty much anything.

*babble*

I'm getting a pretty good idea of the kittens' personalities.

Gina is such a CAT. I will grace you with my presence when I feel like it, you may pet me if I'm in the proper mood, how dare you attempt to touch me when I haven't given explicit permission. I own you and you should be damn grateful I do.

Tommie's an attention whore doofus. They both nap during the day, Tommie'll get up every hour or so to come whine at me until I give her a good snuggling. She's so sweet. And kinda goony-looking, lol.

Gina's significantly less friendly than Tommie. She's warming up, but not as fast. Last night Tommie came marching out from under the bed to demand I cuddle her Right. Now. And curled up with me in bed and she'ssosweet *glee*

The kittykitties I'm adopting came to meet me today.

Elli-the-roomie can't bring me to the pet store until tomorrow or they'd be staying here for good right now, but oh well.

Two girls, about 3 months old (it's an estimate, they're rescued strays), black-and-white tuxedo kitties and OMGTHEY'RESOCUTE *dies*
