There are a few actors I can't stop thinking of as actor rather than character, no matter how compelling the character or how good the performance. Pierce Brosnan is one of those; I almost couldn't watch Mamma Mia! all the way through because it was "lol Pierce singing ABBA" rather than "Sam expressing his emotions". But, seriously...Pierce singing ABBA. LULZ.

Other than that I highly, highly recommend it. Good cheesy fun.

My sleep timer is so fucked up I don't know that I'll ever get it back to normal. I've been getting consistently tired - like, doze-in-front-of-the-screen, can't-get-awake-for-anything tired - around 8 or 8 pm, then waking way up at 11ish and not getting tired again until 4 or 5 am.

I've tried staying up all night, going to bed at 6 but setting an alarm so I didn't sleep all day, nothing's budged that OMG 8 IS BEDTIME feeling. Last night I gave up and went to bed at 9...woke up at 1:30 am. Went back to sleep at 8 am, woke up at 12:30 pm. Today I feel all caffeine-withdrawal sluggish, so I'm not sure I can judge whether that worked or not.

I've been quiet lately because most of my urges to post come from RARR ANGRY OVERSENSITIVE LESBIAN FEMINIST WHITE ALLY GRAAR things, and I just...don't have the energy, or desire, to go over again why something that looks little to you (for any value of "you") doesn't feel little to me.

If you're not reading [livejournal.com profile] hectorsims, now's a good time to start; I just posted the first update of a new legacy.

Also, if you're into reading legacies, [livejournal.com profile] shoefleesims' Flora Legacy and The Life and Times of Meadow Thayer are fantastic, and I spent last night reading [livejournal.com profile] simgaroop's Broke Legacy, which is very good if you can get past how convoluted the later updates get, and the variety of grammar/spelling/usage discrepancies of an ESL writer.

If I'm not happy lately, I'm at the very least content, and yay for that.

I've settled into a rather lovely nightly routine: between 9 and 10, I get dressed (usually with Boots of Doom as part of the outfit; they get some wear and I get to break them in a little at a time this way), go outside and have a cigarette. I only smoke outside, partly because I've never brought up the issue of smoking in the apartment with Elli (since I wasn't at the time, I didn't say I was a smoker when we were arranging) and partly because I really actively dislike stale smoke inside.

It might suck the nights it's 30-something or under, but nights like tonight where it's just chilly enough I start to get uncomfortably cold right around the time I'm finishing up, it's lovely. I like a little cold, anyway - heat makes me absolutely miserable, and aggravates my migraines to the point where step two when I feel one coming (after Excedrin) is to turn the heat way down. And it's nice to get outside for a little bit and just...do nothing.

I come inside, put either water on for tea or milk+hot cocoa mix on, feed the cats and do dishes (and wash my hands because for whatever reason I don't like the smell of cigarette on my hands), and get settled in with a nice hot drink (generally either vanilla chai+eggnog creamer or white mocha ghirardelli cocoa), put on some Christmas music, and on the best nights Fiendy will have posted a new chapter of the current HSA for me to flail over.

It's very nice.

In addition to this being Christmas music season (and if you haven't, go a few posts down and download at the very least the recommended songs because omg so good) (also, I might post a couple full albums in the near future; David Hasselhoff's if nothing else), it's year in review season. Thus, post the first line from the first entry for each month of '07:

(I'm leaving out posts that are just memes)

January: I feel far better this morning.
February: I made a little band in Pixen :)
March: I'm just playing around with the LJTalk posting feature.
April: Possibly the greatest commercial ever made.
May: ABBA Metal: A Tribute to ABBA might be the finest cd ever recorded.
June: I've been meaning to do this for a couple days.
July: Stupid eye doctor dilated my eyes.
August: 1. Housing is totally 100% squared away.
September: Yay pictures.
October: Dear [livejournal.com profile] sidewinder, [Picture of JBJ/Gore hugging] Love, Hector.
November: Yay I'm going to see Nick (and, uh, the rest of the band [Black Rebel Motorcycle Club], too, but mostly Nick. Pretty pretty Nick...) tonight.
December: In all these bandom terminology arguments, I keep seeing accusations that the people arguing for the more general use of the term are being hostile.

Paints a rather shallow picture, doesn't it :D

I'm actually having fun in Multimedia class for the first time. ZOMG.

It's just a work day so I brought my headphones, and I am creating fucking art (and rocking out to the ABBA Metal shit and whatever else I had kicking around in my site's uploads folder - quite a lot, actually.

So yeah. Totally jamming to Hysteria and manipulating Warhol's Knives. Fucking awesome.

Actually it just switched to How Can We Be Lovers if We Can't Be Friends

OMG Michael Bolton <3

It could only be better if I'd had time to stop for iced coffee before class

I ran into Alves on the elevator. One of the best professors ever. Seriously. Told him I was transferring and he went all pouty. Ahahaha.

Goddamn I'm in a good mood.

The zip file of the ABBA Metal I posted before was teh broken, so I just went and uploaded all the songs individually into a directory. Whee.

Here they be

I'm going to go listen to Waterloo for the eighteen millionth time

ABBA Metal: A Tribute to ABBA might be the finest cd ever recorded.

It's an excellent wake-up cd.

I don't feel like going to class todaaaaaay. I might skip this first one, I still have two absences left.

No. Then I would miss my [livejournal.com profile] zek_chan and Jonathan time. And Starbucks.

And that would be sad.
