May. 2nd, 2009 11:17 amWent to the church rummage sale yesterday, armed with $6 in cash and $2.50 in quarters. I wanted to look at scarves and shoes, and get a High School Musical pillow I'd seen in one of the drop-off rooms when I'd dropped some stuff off. After about an hour I left with a dress (that I bought to use as a nightgown; it's lovely and shapeless and cotton and totally unsuitable to wear any further out of the house than the reading chairs on the lawn) and a lamp for next to my bed (to replace the one the cats destroyed. Considering the reason I need a lamp next to my bed is so I can navigate around all the cats in my bed, destroying the first one was a bad idea). Some wretched child (or, I suppose, possibly a wretched adult) had already bought my coveted HSM pillow. No sleeping with Zefron nightly for me.
$4 for dress + lamp, not bad at all. The dress/nightgown reminds me of my grandmother, if it were in another color I'd wonder when she'd risen from the grave to go donate to the rummage sale.
Later, I was reading on the lawn and playing fetch with Barack (she knocked my iPod off the arm of the chair, I fetched it. She got double points if she knocked it off hard enough to separate the speaker so I had to fetch two things), when a neighbor who goes to church with us drove up and mentioned she had been supposed to bring a bag of her daughter-in-law's clothes to the rummage sale, but hadn't made it (she's had a truly horrid week), and would I like to go through the bag? So I ended up with a nice big handful of shirts. As often happens with me and clothes, the one I knew would be too small but liked enough to take a chance on fits beautifully, and the one that looked perfectly-sized is far too tight. My favorite of the bunch is the perfect size, but an incredibly clingy fabric. We'll see if I can get my confidence up enough to actually wear it.
Sister and I are going to a concert Wednesday, I'd be more excited if it was a shorter drive (it's 3.5 hours) and we weren't doing it all in one night. I don't mind long drives, but it's looking to be a long show (five bands), and adrenaline only does so much. Here's to plenty of 24-hour places to get coffee along the way :D
