I'm gonna have a full-time job for a couple weeks! I will be excited about this until I have to go to bed early tonight, and then I will whine about it for a couple weeks.

(PBM is short a person in the ~Quality Assurance~ department, so I'm standing in, which is nice, because I'm actually doing a job that will need doing foreever [and doing by me until the missing QA returns] instead of a project with a finite end)

(Also good, I can add one more person to the list of people at Adecco who will actually give me all the information they have about whatever assignment they're giving me. I'm up to two)

I thought about doing a Cash Cash song for today, because they're exactly what comes to mind right now for happy-making, but since I just did the big listen to Cash Cash, bitches post and already talked about how happy-making they are, it felt like kind of a cop-out.

So I went with my other never-fail happymaker: Mika.

I've been known to describe Mika and his music in the following ways: the aural form of pure joy, a rainbow for your ears, a joy rainbow, remover of all the sadness from the world, made of sunshine. So, probably an obvious choice!

Picking a specific song was harder, but I ended up going with the one that introduced me to Mika in the first place and made me fall totally head-over-heels in sunshiney love. Big Girl (You Are Beautiful).

I can count on one hand the number of songs celebrating fat women as beautiful; even fewer are the number of songs that don't treat it as "beautiful in spite of fat"; and only one sung as someone desiring women, not as a woman asking to be desired. I mean, how often, in this culture, do we get "Diet Coke? Bitch, please" instead of "eat better and exercise, you fat hog"?

This song makes me feel awesome - about myself, about the world, about everything. It's on every feel-good playlist I've ever made, it can singlehandely stop any "wait, I've been wrong this whole time, fat chicks can't be hot" self-esteem droughts I have. Happy happy!
