A nice article.

Mostly about Jon, and one sentence in particular set me to bristling, but it is most definitely the best recent article about them I've read.

My comments on first reading it:

At first I read "luscious blonde curls" instead of "ludicrous blonde curls" and I got confused because I know I didn't write this article.

"Indeed, despite the bonhomie, the songwriting collaborations, and public declarations to the opposite, Jon Bon Jovi is Bon Jovi." - I almost stopped reading it right there. Jeezly.

"filling the silence with pre-cooked statements" - the best way of describing the way Jon does interviews ever.

"And Richie, always the man with the beautiful woman on his arm" - Tico's women are always hotter

"presumably for those times when only a light, fruity Italian will provide adequate mid-performance refreshment." - But Jon's right there.

Mmm, nope. He and Richie are very comfortable sharing the bottom rung.

And even if he were my favorite...he isn't the band. He's the face. Face =\= Everything.

Cripes, I hate it when they say shit like that about a band. (And yeah, that's the bitter Police-fan in me who still gets riled up over everyone assuming Sting was the entire band...)

Of course he wasn't. Takes more then one man or even two to make a band. Unfortunately, people tend to focus on one person and think that person is the be all and end all. It's as if they can't cope with the idea of a community effort, so to speak. Plus, the fact that the band has his name on it doesn't help. Nor the asskissers for that matter. More bands have broken up because of that kind of bullshit; it's an old, old story.

I TOTALLY AGREE!!!
That's the fact I always get furious, if you talk about Bon Jovi and you get some kind of answer like: "Yes, I heard he gave a concert." or "Oh yeah, this guy is attractive." :-/
