Chrissy Weekend, pt. 2
Oct. 23rd, 2006 12:30 amFriday afternoonish Chrissy was talking to her mom and lowered the phone, looked at me, and asked "Are we going to Boston?"
"Uh. Do you want to go to Boston?"
So we pm'ed
kraftpistole to see if he was busy, and he wasn't, so Boston it was.
Saturday morning we played Name That Tune, which apparently doesn't work in my dvd player (or maybe Joe[tv] and Jon[dvd player] were having a spat). So we just went through all the trivia questions. There were more Leppard questions this time. And "true or false, Jon Bon Jovi was the original lead singer of Poison". And "Tico Torres is a member of what band?" which was the first question I got in either the hardest or second hardest level the first time I played this, and the roommates almost quit right there. Mwaha.
Nice uneventful trip to Boston. Chrissy rode the subway for the first time, and by the end of it I couldn't believe she was still trusting me to naviagte. "Whoops, we didn't go down far enough." "This isn't the right - wait, yes it - no - yeah, we're right."
Whee. I'm so smart. Heh.
Finding Rick was nice and easy, and meeting him was wonderful. Lots and lots of nonsensical chatter. And making fun of Sav, there was plenty of that. Poor thing.
Had Indian food at...some place. I saved the take-out menu so I wouldn't forget the name but it's in my purse which I would have to get up to get so...eh. It started with an R and was delicious. Chrissy hadn't ever had Indian food....didn't like the curry, but liked the rice, so we had the leftover curry wrapped up and now I have curry. I don't think I said curry enough in that last sentence.
Wandered and found a Starbucks to sit down and keep chattering in. Rick and I treated the people - of which there weren't many, which is probably a good thing - to our rendition of Candy In Your Hands. We're talented. Heh.
Went to get back on the subway, singing and playing mouth guitar (which is exactly what it sounds like) the whole way. Awesome.
Got back to South Station and had to wait an hour and a half for the bus back to Providence. South Station has a way of stealing little chunks of my life like that.
It was cold. Luckily we got back to Gaebe before the one am bus left, or we would've had to stand out in the cold for half an hour.
This morning we got up early (for us) and then I ended up laying in bed and dozing on and off while Chrissy packed. Got downtown only to find I'd accidentally checked the weekday schedule for the RIPTA bus to the airport, and there wasn't actually one coming until 4:50. Her plane was supposed to take off at 4:38, so...uh.
Found a cab, had to hunt for one that'd take us for $20, since normally it's $28ish. But...we found one, and got there, and I helped her handle the e-ticket stuff (which is good, because that's how I'm doing it in November and it was nice to see how easy it is) and...she left.
Waited an hour for the RIPTA bus, during which my iPod decided it was gonna reset its software and not have any of my music anymore. Awesome. Rode the bus for a fairly long time 'cause I wasn't really ready to go back to the room alone yet. Had dinner, got back here, went right to sleep. And of course, sleeping through the night would've been too good, so I'm awake now and probably will be until time for work.
Overall, it was pretty much exactly what I expected, so...yay. And meeting
kraftpistole was a nice bonus. And now I can start the countdown to November, heh.

Date: 2006-10-23 06:06 am (UTC)OK, enough question mark/exclamation point abuse. Now *please* stop picking on Sav... I'm doing everything in my power to avoid developing a SavMuse and I slide backwards anytime y'all pick on him!
Seriously, thanks for sharing, and so glad a good time was had by all. Hugs!

*sigh* I miss Boston. I'm going to have to move there. Thank heavens for having family in the area... *evil laugh*

Date: 2006-10-23 01:18 pm (UTC)Sounds like you guys had a great time. Poor Rick--when Mark and I were leaving Boston, we didn't have an hour-and-a-half wait. The commuter train that was taking us up north to where we'd parked was leaving about 3 seconds after we found it, so it was a rushed hug and we were gone.
I think the conductor would have been happier if we hadn't wasted time on a hug.
