I just did an interview about bandfic over the phone and OHGOD why did I agree to the phone. I hate the phoooooone.

(it wasn't that bad. Short, and I probably spent much more time flailing just before and just after and getting all anxious than it warranted. but still. phone.)

I think I managed not to sound like a babbling ass, though, so yay.

The timing was spiff - I'd just come in from my OMGPHONEOHGODIMUSTRELAX smoke break, fed and watered the kitties, and put water on for tea when the phone rang...so I could fidget with kitcheny things and have something to do during the he-can-only-write-so-fast pauses. And I have a nice cup of tea to unwind with.

I didn't get in a mention of the Prompt Machine *fails at pimping*...I had a good chance, too...I can e-mail him, haha.

In other news...there is no other news. lol. I think I'm gonna be all done with classes December 6...and I don't fly out until the 13th. Maybe I can have Dad refiddle my flight.

Also, how fucking pompous is OTW? There has to be a point at which more than just us malcontent bandficcers realize it's really just porn for egocentric acafans. OMG THE SOUND OF MY OWN TYPING AS I WRITE BRILLIANCE *FAPFAPFAP*.

No. I don't necessarily believe them, either...H said in IM if anything ever happens to femme she can be replaced with a PR robot and no one would know the difference ;)

I believe they've changed it, but considering they're still throwing out "media fandom" and "transformative works" and "predominantly female" at every opportunity, I doubt it'll be a satisfactory change.

I just finished up my interview as well - clocked in at 30 minutes. I'm not sure how much of real content I got in but, hey...I suppose I'll have to wait and see what he ends up using.

The good news is that you, Heather and Hector all have the correct and factual history of BandFic. :-D Now, it can be shared. I dun think Sports Fandom will ever get the subtle (like a brick) and important differences.

OTW just sucks ALL the fun out of any fandom. I think they need their own sub-genre - Pompdom? Snottydom? Dry and Brittledom? Or just... Sucksdom.

Parts of OTW are ebandom and the other parts are uhhh... "Serdom" in that they take their fandom seriously? "Bardom" in that they want to be the barons of fandom, with everyone else being serfs and thus not worthy of consideration and study who, when they write the history books, will largely be marginalized while they get to be the focus and yet, those barons would be totally dependent on the serfs that they loathe?

Realistically, I tend to just define it as acafandom, acafen or metafen. I don't mind meta but the type of socially acceptable meta done by the dominant classes seems to be one which requires a thorough knowledge of media literature terms, and a rejection of all other discplines as valid ways to examine fandom.
